The Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange (CGSE) opened on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year in the Year of the Dragon. Secretary for Financial Services
and the Treasury of HKSAR Mr Christopher Hui, GBS, JP and Commissioner of Customs and Excise Ms Louise HO Pui-shan, CDSM, CMSM was invited to attend the opening of the CGSE Lunar Open Market Ceremony. CGSE president Dr. Haywood Cheung, Vice Presidents Mr. Tse Moon Chuen & Hon Robert LEE Wai-wang and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee Mr. Cheng Kam Biu, Wilson accompanied the ceremony.
According to the traditional ceremony of this market, the first transaction of the Lunar New Year was completed by the head of Executive and Supervisory Committees. Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of HKSAR Mr Christopher Hui, GBS, JP rang the bell to open the market and witnessed by CGSE president Dr. Haywood Cheung. The 99 Tael Gold Contract was traded by Vice Presidents Mr. Tse Moon Chuen & Hon Robert LEE Wai-wang at HK$18,488 per tael, Commissioner of Customs and Excise Ms Louise HO Pui-shan, CDSM, CMSM, rang the bell to open the market the RMB kilogram bar gold contract was traded at RMB 462.98 per gram. After the market opened, it continued to perform well, with brisk trading.
